Ehlke Herefords is owned by Mark and Della Ehlke, along with their daughters, Lacey Jo and Jane’a.
The ranch operates on 5000 acres of owned and leased ground in the shadow of Mount Baldy, in the Big Belt mountains of Montana.
Sires of influence in our registered Hereford cow herd include Ranger 9615, Ribstone Standard 27L and Anchor bloodlines. The group also includes replacement heifers we have retained from select matings with our JV Shirley 414 cow. We also run a commercial black Angus cow herd that go back to North Fork Angus breeding.
Our breeding philosophy is to focus on the female. It takes an exceptional cow to produce replacement quality breeding animals. Our cows are expected to perform: calve and mother without assistance, breed back in a timely manner and wean a good calf. The registered cattle are managed the same as the commercial cows. We don't single trait select, nor do we select for extremes. We select for traits that will complement one another.
We use both horned and polled genetics; taking advantage of the strongest traits of both. Ultrasound data is collected on all replacement heifers and bull calves.
Our herd has tested negatively for BVD PI. The testing is done annually to insure we retain our negative status.
Visitors are welcome. We are located in one of the most scenic areas of Montana, with many recreational and sightseeing opportunities close by.

T-bone will be a calving ease bull that will add style, muscle, eye appeal, hair and an outcross pedigree. T-Bone's mother was the high selling bred heifer in Canada 2005 and a full sister to the National Western Stock Show Reserve Senior Champion Bull 2008. T-bone’s first calves will be on the ground in 2009.

Aberdeen Lani will bring strong performance and carcass. The first Aberdeen sired daughter shown in Canada was Reserve National Champion Female in 2006. He also sired one of the highest marbling calves on record at Agribition with a marbling score of 5.65. In 2007, the Lacombe Bull Sale Champion Bull was sired by Aberdeen.

Look at the eye appeal with this nice Raftsman heifer. Raftsman combines carcass, calving ease, performance and show appeal. He had the number one Carcass measurements at Agribition as a calf and was a class winner at the Canadian National Hereford Show as a yearling bull. Raftsman 16R named 2008 National Reserve Senior Champion Bull at the Denver Stock Show
